UK Drug Delivery Company

Task
A company was developing a novel patented drug delivery technology that could potentially be indicated for several routes of delivery, which included oral and parenteral controlled release. The company needed to focus its resources and finance in one of these delivery areas.

Assignment/ Deliverables
Pyrus assessed the potential applications and reviewed the strength of the technology versus the competition, which included external interviews with technology experts. This enabled the company to improve its understanding of the advantages of its technology ensuring an appropriate re-focusing of R&D activities.

European and US Pharmaceutical/Biotech Companies

Task
Assignments were conducted for several leading European and US pharmaceutical/biotech companies to establish the clinical profile and opportunities for a range of compounds and technologies.  These covered therapy areas including oncology, renal disease, inhalation, diabetes, transdermal delivery, dermatological diseases, biodegradable devices, dental implants, sports injuries and orthopaedics.
 
Assignments/ Deliverables
Desk research and interviews were undertaken with international key opinion leaders in the specialised areas. Optimal clinical profiles and specific opportunities were identified allowing the clients to focus on areas of maximal potential value, in addition to prioritisation and planning of further R&D investment. 

US Biotech Company

Task
The company had identified several novel cancer compounds and required the lead compound to be tested in a proof of concept clinical study.

Assignment/ Deliverables
Pyrus managed the internal and external members of a project team to develop the project strategy, team structure, and project plans and documentation to carry out a Phase I study. External CRO resource was identified to carry out the key activities required for non-clinical and clinical packages. The restructured project allowed a clinical study to be commenced successfully within 12 months.

UK Biotech Company

Task
The company had a novel, proprietary technology with a broad range of potential applications and wanted to focus on areas that could deliver the maximum value.

Assignment/ Deliverables
The technology was assessed against competitor approaches and the business development strategy developed with associated marketing activities to target the most appropriate potential partners. A number of evaluation deals were concluded with further potential deals in the pipeline.
